TEHRAN – The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) navy will launch Iris Shahid Bagheli, the first domestically developed drone carrier, during a groundbreaking ceremony attended by senior military officials at Iran’s southern port of Bandar Abbas on Thursday. We were welcomed by that fleet.
The drone carrier, a commercially available vessel reused over two years, honored Berman Bagieri, the IRGC commander who had been marched during Saddam Hussein’s battle with Iranian invasion.
Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, commander of the IRGC Navy, praised the ship as “a marine UAV and helicopter carriers can carry out missions across the sea.”
Characteristics of the warship
With a 180-meter runway, the Shahid Bagheri Warship houses multiple squadrons of unmanned aerial vehicles, including the Ababil-3, Mohajer-6 and Advanced Qaher-313 stealth drone.
Beyond the drone’s capabilities, the carrier features short-range air defense systems, cruise missiles and guided underground vessels, increasing its ability to combat aviation and maritime threats, according to the IRGC.
Additionally, the warship has an operating range of 22,000 nautical miles and can maintain a year-long mission in the distant seas without refueling. This is a feat that comes from the man’s B&W diesel engine and the 41,978 tonne travel.
The onboard facilities, including hospitals with surgical units, sports equipment and logistics support, also reflect the design of the expansion deployment.
Another important feature of the Shahid Bagheri drone carrier is the integration of electronic warfare and signal intelligence (SIGINT) systems, further amplifying its effectiveness in asymmetric warfare.
Major General Mohammad Bagheli, the military’s chief of staff, was another high-ranking military official to deal with the new additions.
“We reserve the right to protect the route of transport from the Strait of Hormuz to the Indian Ocean so that foreign ships operate near our bodies of water,” the Supreme General said.
The deployment of drone carriers is aimed at “guaranteeing sustainable security in the local waters” and has the capacity to respond to the unstable foreign presence when necessary, Bagheri added.
“Drone the pillars of Iran’s defense strategy: Experts
In an interview with the Tehran Times, military expert Mehdi Bakhtiari emphasized the importance of naval progress. – Class containers announced several years ago. ”
Bakhtiari focused on the common practice of converting commercial vessels into military vessels. “This approach is both practical and efficient,” he commented, pointing to Macran’s logistics vessels as an example.
He emphasized that Shahid Bagheri’s drone carrier, which can stay in the ocean for a year, would extend the operational reach of the IRGC far beyond the Persian Gulf.
Bakhtiari emphasized the importance of drones in Iran’s defence strategy, saying, “Iranian drones are the best in the world and can be used to carry out combat and reconnaissance missions over long range.”
The new drone carrier will deploy a variety of drones to enhance the IRGC’s capabilities in important regions such as the Indian Ocean and the Red Sea, experts explained.

“We’re familiar with such threats, but we take them seriously, but more importantly, it’s our response,” Salami said.
The commander emphasized Iran’s defensive capabilities, saying, “Our advice is that others should not misjudge us, and instead make decisions based on the reality of Iran’s power.” That’s what it is.”
Reflecting this resolve, he cited President Donald Trump’s recent recognition of Iran’s growing strength. “Even our enemies recognize that Iran is stronger than ever today.

He further explained that “Trump understood the power of Iran and was judged based on its reality during his last four years of office.”
“Iran is not only not weakened, but is much stronger than before, and this strength is clearly apparent,” concluded Salami.
