“The whole world knows that Iran has acquired the knowledge to build nuclear power plants,” said Mohammad Eslami, an Iranian atomic energy organization, held at the construction site of the Karun power plant. Speaking at the ceremony, he was in Shaden County, in the southwestern province of Fuzestan.
“We don’t care about enemy sanctions and pressure to achieve our goals,” he said, adding, “We will continue the path that has been drawn out for ourselves to achieve our goals.”
Noting that Iran has become a “major player” in the knowledge of building nuclear power plants around the world, Eslami said, “The enemy can’t stand this great achievement.”
Pointing out the importance of this knowledge in a variety of fields, including medicine and agriculture, Eslami has been founded in Islam by enemies assassinating scientists, imposing sanctions and putting economic pressure on the country. He has repeatedly stated that he cannot prevent the Republic from achieving its goals.
The AEOI chief said the operation was “ongoing” with reference to the construction of the 300-megawatt Karun power plant.
Noting that despite pressure, Iran continues to pursue peaceful nuclear activities, Eslami said, “Twelve years ago, the United States began to build a process of the current existence of Dark Hovin nuclear power plant. I tried to stop it, but it failed.”
“With the help of our youth and scientists, its construction continued. The construction of the 300-megawatt Karun power plant is one of the manifestations of the country’s progress,” he added.
He noted that in its plans to expand the country’s power plants, government agencies have decided to resume the project.
Reports say the power plant is a pressurized water reactor (PWR) type, with its ability to produce 300 megawatts of electricity being built on about 50 hectares of land near the Kalun River.
