TEHRAN – Ali Hassan Khalil, political advisor to the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, met with Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme Council for National Security, in the Iranian capital.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the latest regional developments, particularly the recent moves of the Israeli regime in southern Lebanon and the repeated ceasefire violations by the Tel Aviv regime.
Days ago, the Israeli military carried out new airstrikes, bombing several residential areas across southern Lebanon, as the Israeli regime continues to violate ceasefire agreements with Arab countries.
Israeli warplanes bombed the Lebanese village of Bint Jubeir and attacked the outskirts of the town of Tayre Farsay in southern Lebanon’s Tire district. Lebanese state news agency reported that Israeli warplanes also attacked the al-Khanouk area of Aitaroun city in Nabatiyeh district with air-to-ground missiles. The attack caused casualties and significant damage to civilian infrastructure in the region.
An Israeli drone also targeted a Renault Rapid vehicle in the town of Tours in the Nabatieh region, injuring at least one person. The strike took place in a densely populated area while students were leaving school.
Tensions have been rising in southern Lebanon for weeks, with Israeli forces stepping up airstrikes inside Lebanese territory. Despite a ceasefire in November last year, Israel continues to carry out near-daily attacks into southern and eastern Lebanon, seizing five hills it considers strategic in the south.
In late September, Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said that developments in the West Asian region had made it clear to many countries that the Israeli regime would not tolerate its actions.
During his visit to Lebanon, Larijani cited Israel’s recent attack on Qatar as an example, suggesting that countries need to establish cooperation mechanisms.
He also emphasized the long-standing friendship between Iran and Lebanon, saying that diplomatic relations have historically been close and have become increasingly friendly in recent years. Larijani reiterated Iran’s support for a strong and independent government in Lebanon.
The official expressed hope that Lebanon’s development will benefit its people and lay the foundations for a stable and sovereign government.
Before leaving Tehran, Hassan Khalil also met with Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf.
The Israeli regime has violated the ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah hundreds of times. Israel says it will continue its attacks until Hezbollah, which has served as Lebanon’s most powerful defense force against Israeli aggression for decades, is dismantled. While the Lebanese government was unable to halt Israeli violations, it did temporarily pressure Hezbollah to disarm. But after Israel’s attack on Qatar, that pressure appears to have stopped.
Lebanon, along with several other Arab territories, is considered integral to the “Greater Israel” initiative, a vast territorial map in which Zionists pursue what they call a divinely mandated Jewish state. This ambition is openly supported by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and many of his cabinet members.
