Mohammad Eslami, head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Agency (AEOI), told reporters on the sidelines of the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday that the deputy director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will visit the remaining locations agreed in a joint statement in March 2023.
“We hope that the agency will end the influence of the Zionist regime and resume its professional actions. And God willingly take a step towards resolving the remaining two sites. He has expressed his optimism that outdoor inspections and dialogue will bring about progress.
Eslami described Iran’s nuclear activity under completely peaceful and continuous IAEA supervision, adding that “there was no lack of transparency in Iran’s nuclear history. The Zionist regime sought to spread false claims and unfounded accusations to create distractions and promote its repetitive narrative.”
He continued. “We can end these issues as we hope that agencies will remain independent and stay away from the unusual approaches they have taken in recent years.”
Elsewhere in his remarks, Eslami said Iran’s stance on uranium enrichment is “completely legal and rights-based.”
“Enrichment is the basis of the nuclear industry. Having a power grid without a power plant is pointless. Enrichment is a generator that promotes nuclear energy. Enrichment in Iran is like a complete denial of the nuclear industry,” he said, emphasizing that this position is clearly communicated to negotiate both verbal and written.
Repeated that Iran’s enrichment is not for weapons, “We are committed to a declared peaceful path. We have no more hidden agenda than we have publicly stated.”
Regarding the nuclear consortium, Eslami revealed, “There were no formal proposals for us to consider.”
When asked whether American inspectors would be allowed to visit Iran’s nuclear facilities in the event of an agreement, he said, “If an agreement is reached, we will reconsider the issue.”
