After a recent diplomatic tour during the Israeli US attack, Aragut interviewed Al Arabi Aljaid. He said Iran tried to demonstrate compliance with the treaty on the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons (NPT), but the treaty failed to protect Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.
He said that 20 years of transparency and confidence building on Iran’s peaceful nuclear programme has no positive results. Therefore, this issue will be rethinked and the Islamic Republic may change its stance on nuclear programmes and NPT cooperation. However, the minister said he cannot predict the direction of this change at this time.
Araguchi even said that Iranians are making great efforts to acquire peaceful nuclear technology, and that some scientists are losing their lives to pursue this goal. Therefore, no one will stop acquiring this technology.
When asked about Israeli attacks on Iran and Tehran’s response, he said US involvement in the conflict showed Israel’s failure. However, following Iran’s strong response with the third-generation missiles, the enemy retreated and proposed a ceasefire.
Araguchi also said Iran’s strategic attacks on the US military and intelligence reporting infrastructure in the region are an act of self-defense and should not be considered a violation of the sovereignty of neighboring countries. He said that relations with Iran’s neighbors, including Qatar, are based on historical ties and social interactions.
Regarding his diplomatic mission during the conflict, he said the effort aims to strengthen Iran’s security by identifying and denounceing invaders, and to encourage other countries to take aggression stances to create political deterrence.
Regarding Russia’s position, the minister added that Moscow has taken a strong and clear stance on condemning Israeli US invasion, and that Russia is an influential player in Iran’s nuclear issue, and that the Islamic Republic is working with Russia in a variety of areas, including the Bushel nuclear power plant.
He also expressed his gratitude for the regional state’s stance on the recent attack, saying that the region and the Islamic world condemned the attacks against Iran and that people in the region showed solidarity with the Iranian state.
