Mohammadreza Aref spoke at a meeting with Niger’s oil minister Sahabi Oumarou in Tehran on Tuesday.
He said: “We strongly support a strategy to expand relations with African countries based on shared interest and cooperation. Given our strong political, regional and international ties, Niger is a priority for our collaboration given our shared stance on Palestine and Lebanon.”
In response to Niger’s demand for greater cooperation, AREF said oil and energy could become a key focus on Iran-Niger relationship. He noted that the Joint Committee reviews necessary measures and that the expert plan will be implemented after the final decision.
The Vice President added that economic ties between the two countries are on the rise and “the private sector in both countries should be actively involved. The Joint Committee on Iran-Niger will discuss the mechanisms of private sector involvement in joint projects and investment.”
