TEHRAN – Foreign Minister Abbas Aragut announced Thursday that Iran had responded “officially” to Donald Trump’s letter, the IRNA reported.
Araguchi said the letter was handed over to the US through Oman on Wednesday, March 26th.
“This official response includes our views on the current situation and a letter that fully explains (response) to Trump’s letter,” the Iranian chief diplomat pointed out.
The Foreign Minister has repeatedly said that Tehran’s policies will still not “negotiate” with the United States as long as “maximum pressure” and “military threats” are in place against Iran.
The chief diplomat added that “indirect negotiations” with the US could continue as before.
“The indirect negotiations took place between Mr. Luhani and Mr. Raisi’s government.”
Anwar Gargash, a diplomatic advisor to the UAE president, visited Tehran on March 13th and sent a letter from Trump to Foreign Minister Arikhamenei to the leader of the Islamic Revolution.
In an interview with Fox Business on March 7, Trump announced that he had written a letter to Ayatollah Khamenei, expressing his administration’s willingness to negotiate with Iran and reach a different agreement from the 2015 nuclear deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.
However, in his interview, Trump poses a military threat to Iran if he fails to reach an agreement.
