President Pezeshkian arrived in Muscat on Tuesday with an official invitation from Sultan Haisam bin Tarik of Oman.
Following the formal welcome ceremony at Muscat International Airport, Pezeshkian held a meeting with the Sultan of Oman. The visit continued in a joint session between high-ranking delegations from both countries.
During the meeting, Pezeshkian welcomed Oman’s active and constructive role in the course of indirect Iran-US negotiations.
President Pezeshkian praises Oman’s “active and constructive” role in indirect talks between Iran and the United States.
He said Iran is ready to promote cooperation with Oman in all areas, adding that both countries have the capacity to adopt for the well-being and progress of both countries.
“We are ready to do anything that is within our capabilities for the dignity and greatness of Muslims. We each have the ability to adopt for the happiness and progress of each other in our region and for the happiness and progress of other countries,” Pezeschkian said.
Sultan Haitham also welcomed close ties and said that if the road to business activities is paved, the two countries agree that “we will witness a major leap into bilateral relations.”
“We need to develop relationships between Iran and the ports of Oman, and the capacity of railways from southern Iran to southern Iran is very important to us,” he said, adding that further support is needed for cooperation in the energy sector.
Pezeschkian’s visit to Oman marks his 10th foreign trip since taking office.
