The meeting will be held with the participation of neighboring countries and key regional actors and will focus on supporting stability in Afghanistan and strengthening regional mechanisms, Mehr News Agency said.
Responding to a question on Sunday about Iran’s offer to host a regional conference aimed at easing tensions between Pakistan and the Taliban, Pakistan Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi said on Sunday that Islamabad appreciates the initiative.
He described Iran as a “brotherly and friendly country” and added that Pakistan consistently supports conflict resolution through dialogue and diplomacy.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi recently announced plans for a regional meeting aimed at easing tensions between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban.
Earlier this month, the third round of talks between Pakistan and the Taliban in Istanbul ended without any progress.
