Speaking at a seminar on trade opportunities with Turkmenistan in Bodinor, North Holasan province in northeastern Iran, on Saturday, Iran’s current exports to Turkmenistan would be around $100 million, but there are plans to promote annual trading $3 billion, or favorable terms.
He said bilateral trade between the two countries is steadily increasing, with the current exchange reaching $500 million.
Citing stable political relations, the ambassador emphasized that Iran and Turkmenistan share safe boundaries, share cultural, linguistic and ethnic similarities, and form a strong foundation for deeper cooperation.
Roozbahani also outlined plans to open two Iranian banks in Turkmenistan, saying, “These banks aim to promote financial transactions, including Rial, and to promote smoother trade operations.”
Regarding visa policies, he said that Turkmenistan maintains strict entry rules for many countries, but the procedures for Iranian citizens have been significantly relaxed.
The ambassador also called for a specialized trade exhibition in both countries and encouraged greater academic exchanges between the border regions to promote stronger economic ties.
