In the same letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the current turntable president of the Security Council, Asim Iftihar Ahmad, Iran’s mission submitted a comprehensive account of the violations, which targeted women and children in particular, during the 12-day military attack in June.
The report was also forwarded to the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative in Children and Armed Conflicts, as well as the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
The letter highlights the collective responsibility of the Security Council and the international community, referring to the loss of life and the widespread destruction of civil infrastructure, and holds the person responsible for the blatant attack.
According to a report attached to the letter, 1,100 civilians, including 132 women and 45 children, were martyred in the Israeli attack that began early on June 13th.
The report notes that these strikes were carried out with intentional targeting of private and critical infrastructure, including hospitals, media and peaceful nuclear facilities, and with extensive military, intelligence and political support from the United States and several Western countries.
This includes names and biographies of some of the victims, including 30 school children, families who have lost all members, victims from Hakim Children’s Hospital, kindergarten, parks, Evin Prison and ambulance strikes.
The Mission condemned them as serious violations of the UN Charter, international law, the Geneva Convention and international human rights standards. It called on the Security Council to address the structural immunity of the Israeli regime and its allies, urging decisive action against those responsible.
