In a message on Sunday, Iran’s foreign ministry extended sympathy to the Pakistani government and the state over the heavy monsoon rain that caused flash floods in northern Pakistan.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran expresses sympathy and sadness on behalf of the Iranian government and people, and to the brothers of Pakistan and neighboring countries, particularly to the families of victims of floods and landslides in parts of Pakistan.”
The ministry also expressed hope for a quick recovery for all injured people.
The majority of deaths were recorded in the mountainous Kybar Pak Thongkwa province, according to Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Agency.
Nine more people have been killed in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir, while six have been killed in the northern Gilgit-Baltistan region.
In a message on Saturday, Iranian President Masuud Pezeshkian conveyed honest sympathy for the Iranian government and people to Pakistan Prime Minister Shebaz Sharif after the tragic loss of life and injuries caused by the catastrophic flood.
