According to the latest update to the International IQ Test on January 1, 2025, Iran ranks with an impressive average IQ of 106.3 with the fourth intelligence in intelligence.
Findings from studies involving more than 1.3 million participants show that Iran has strong cognitive performance, outperforming both Western and regional competitors. In this study, China, Korea, and Japan hold the top three positions with average IQ scores of 107.19, 106.43 and 106.4, respectively.
Experts believe Iran’s high rankings are attributed to its robust education system, bilingual population, improved healthcare and improved nutrition. Furthermore, this study highlights the world’s Flynn effect. This indicates an average increase in IQ scores by 2.31 points per decade. This trend suggests global advances in education and living standards.
East Asia leads the rankings, while Europe and North America average. In contrast, sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America are often lagging behind, perhaps due to health and economic challenges.
The international IQ test is inspired by the Raven’s Matrix (developed by psychologist John Carlisle Raven in 1936). For each question, candidates must complete the series using logic. This method measures the ability to infer patterns, understand complexity, recognize and reproduce.
This method allows for fair IQ assessments across a wide range of countries and languages, making it suitable for international IQ testing.
