In a meeting with Council of Europe President Antonio Costa on the bystanders of the United Nations General Assembly, Iranian President Masudo Pezeschkian reaffirmed Tehran’s commitment to national unity, constructive international engagement and transparency into its peaceful nuclear program, while denounced Israel’s occlusionism and double standards of global power.
On Wednesday afternoon in New York, local time, President Pezeschkian said the campaign has been a guideline principle for his administration since it strengthened national consensus at home and expanded constructive ties with the world, including European countries, based on mutual respect and shared interests.
He emphasized that Iran has consistently sought dialogue and solutions to avoid conflict, but that “from the first day of my government’s work, the Zionist regime has created obstacles on this path and continues to do so.”
Rejecting allegations regarding Iran’s nuclear program, Pezeshkian said:
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Iranian president criticised the global silence of Israel’s actions, and the double standards have been applied to Iran, saying, “The world’s power over Iran’s small issues is raging, but they remain silent on crossing every red line.
On his part, Council of Europe President Antonio Costa highlighted the EU’s interest in strengthening its involvement with Iran, highlighting that dialogue and understanding are the best way to solve the challenges.
He also repeatedly criticised the EU for Israel’s actions, noting that establishing an independent Palestinian state was the most effective path to solving the Palestinian problem, and that perceptions of Palestinian by the majority of Europe were a step in that direction.
