Tehran – Approximately 7.3 million foreign tourists visited Iran in 1403, Persia, which ended on March 20, 1403.
Speaking to Mehr news agency on Wednesday, Mohseni-Bandpey said the official figure for inbound tourism reached 7.3 million, indicating a continuing growth trend in the country’s tourism sector.
He emphasized that these figures are based on an internationally recognized definition of tourism, which categorizes individuals who stay at their destination at least one night as tourists, whether foreigners or foreigners in Iran.
The Deputy Minister noted that the ministry maintains detailed and decomposed data on the country of origin, number of arrivals and destinations within Iran.
In addition to foreign tourism, Moseni Bumpy highlighted record domestic travel numbers on the two-week holiday of Nowruz 1404, which has recorded travel of over 36 million people. He revealed that these statistics are not only based on vehicle movements, but are also compiled by analyzing cell phone data to identify travellers’ final destinations, thereby minimizing inaccuracy and overlap counts.
He emphasized that the Ministry of Tourism’s data collection method is scientific and evidence-based. “We speak the language of statistics and our data is rooted in reliable and verifiable sources,” he said, adding that the ministry will hold an expert meeting with private sector representatives to further discuss the numbers.
According to previously published data, Iran recorded the arrival of 6.38 million foreign tourists in Persia in 1402, exceeding 4.23 million in 1401.
