At a meeting held on Saturday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Aragci detailed extensive diplomatic efforts during the recent 12-day war and 12-day postwar period, attended by President Masuud Pezeschkian and senior foreign ministry officials.
Aragut said the Foreign Ministry stands side by side with Iranian troops throughout the conflict, calling it a clear example of coordination between the battlefield and diplomacy. “Our army heroically defended the country from the enemy, but diplomats tried tirelessly,” he pointed out.
The Foreign Minister emphasized that Iranian diplomats defended the legitimacy of Iranian people’s rights to self-defense in the face of a clear attack.
Aragut stressed that it was not only military resistance by Iranian military forces that led the enemy to retreat and demand a ceasefire, but also unique governance demonstrated by the Iranian regime.
Through calls and efforts from embassies overseas, more than 120 countries have condemned the attack and expressed support for Iran, Aragut said.
He further said that all international organizations supported Iran, apart from the UN Security Council and the IAEA Committee (which was predictable). Institutions such as the Shanghai Cooperation Agency, the Non-Alliance Movement, the Council on Persian Gulf Cooperation, the Arab Federation and the African Union, together with many global leaders, have recognized Iran’s legitimacy. “This happened no matter how Iran was engaged in diplomatic consultations, even if he proved who really wanted peace and who relied on strength and coercion,” he said.
Araguchi pointed out that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has continued work, particularly at international forums. “In cooperation with the Legal Department of the Presidential Office, we are documenting crimes committed (by the Israeli regime within Iran),” he said.
He also mentioned a series of calls made to coordinate efforts to stop Israeli atrocities in Gaza. This includes the use of hunger and medical blockades as tools of war for political gain during ceasefire negotiations. “These inhuman tactics have failed in the face of Gaza resistance,” Araguchi said.
Tehran and Washington engaged in negotiations led by Iranian Foreign President Abbas Aragut and President Donald Trump’s foreigner Steve Witkov, who held five rounds of indirect talks through Oman when Israel launched a series of unattacked attacks.
The Zionist regime fought a war of attack on Iran on June 13, attacking Iranian troops, nuclear and residential areas for 12 days, but the US carried out a military attack on three nuclear facilities in Iran, Natanz, Fordou and Isfahan on June 22.
Iranian troops carried out a powerful counterattack shortly after the attack. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Aerospace Force implemented 22 waves of retaliation missiles against the Zionist regime as part of Operation True Promise III, which caused significant losses to cities throughout the occupying territories.
In response to the US attack, Iranian forces fired waves of missiles at Aldead Air Force Base in Qatar, the largest US military base in West Asia.
The battle was suspended due to a ceasefire that came into effect on June 24th.
