In a letter to the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the UN Security Council’s President Asim Iftical Ahmad on July 16, Sayed Irabani returned to the United States to distract attention from unstable actions, including military involvement in Yemen and support for Israeli invasions across Yemen and the region.
Below is the full text of his letter.
In the name of God, the most compassionate and most merciful
Your Honor,
I have decisively rejected the unfounded allegations made again by a US representative against the Islamic Republic of Iran at the Security Council meetings held on July 9, 2025 (9954th Conference) and July 15, 2025 (9958th Conference).
The claim that Iran is violating Security Council Resolution 2216 (2015) is completely unfounded, unfounded and without credible evidence. Iran is fully committed to international obligations and related Security Council resolutions, and continues to support a peaceful, inclusive, Yemen-led political process.
It is very unfortunate that the US is abusing its Security Council platform, such as its military involvement in Yemen and support for Israeli attacks on Yemen and the region as a whole, to mistreat it to distract attention from its own unstable behavior.
For almost a decade, Yemeni people suffered from the consequences of catastrophic wars and illegal lockdowns imposed by a US-backed coalition, bringing one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises. These violations of international humanitarian law continue with immunity.
The Security Council must not allow US propaganda to obscure the root causes of ongoing Israeli abuse crimes in Gaza and the current situation in the Red Sea. Permanent peace in this region requires addressing the root causes of instability. Among them, it needs to address illegal occupation of Israel, aggression, and systematic violations of international law and Security Council resolutions.
Thank you for your distribution of current letters as Security Council documents.
I hope you will accept my best considerations, Your Excellency.
