In comments in an interview aired Thursday night, Arakich denounced the US “conspiracy in the Israeli regime’s war of aggression against Iran.”
He said that while Iran protected its people’s rights in indirect nuclear negotiations with the United States prior to Israel’s invasion, the US decided to adopt a different approach after being disappointed in the negotiations.
Arakich condemned the US military attacks on Iran for betrayal of diplomacy and consultations.
The Iranian foreign minister rebutted President Donald Trump’s claim that nuclear talks with Iran will be held next week, saying, “There was no agreement on resuming negotiations. There was no talk of negotiations. At the moment, the subject of negotiations is not an issue.”
Araqchi explained that Iran is still committed to diplomacy, but that it would need to evaluate the decision to resume negotiations with the US.
Asked about Iran’s nuclear enrichment program after being attacked by US and Israeli nuclear facilities, the foreign minister said the damage was not minor as Iran assessed its scope.
“It’s quick to perceive that the ground is being prepared for negotiation,” he pointed out.
The Zionist regime fought a war of aggression against Iran on June 13, attacking Iranian troops, nuclear power and residential areas for 12 days, but the US carried out a military attack on three nuclear sites in Iran, Natanz, Fordau and Isfahan on June 22.
Iranian troops carried out a powerful counterattack shortly after the attack. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Aerospace Force implemented 22 waves of retaliatory missiles against the Zionist regime as part of Operation True Promise III, which caused significant losses to cities across the occupying territories.
The battle was suspended due to a ceasefire that came into effect on June 24th.
