In a telephone conversation between the two sides, Brigadier General Aziz Nasirza, Iran’s Minister of Defence Forces, and Brigadier General Angie Moschegga, South Africa’s Minister of Defence, highlighted the importance of supporting international cooperation, confronting unilateral territorialism and supporting the territorial integrity.
General Nasirzadeh praised South Africa’s principled stance and legal efforts in supporting the oppressed Palestinians and denounced the Israeli regime’s actions against Iran and Gaza. He noted that South Africa’s position reflects the country’s deep-rooted justice and anti-racism spirit. He added that Iran and South Africa share a common international approach in fighting terrorism, opposing control and fighting weapons of mass destruction.
Referring to the recent Israeli attacks, he said: “Attacking residential areas and military commanders during the war is a clear violation of international law. We have given us a firm response, which is what we called for a ceasefire through US mediation.
“Now is the time for independent countries such as Iran, South Africa and other BRICS members to take more effective measures against the hegemony policy of the US and Israeli regimes,” he emphasized.
Motshekga reaffirmed her country’s solid support for Iran, saying, “Our people and government are opposed to attacks on the Iranian state. We are fully supportive of the integrity of Iran’s territory. Iran’s defense has strengthened the morale of freedom candidates around the world.”
“Iran’s strength and resilience stimulates every country. I remember Iran being with us during difficult times. Today, in the face of threats, we must stand together to protect the country’s independence and security,” she concluded.
The Zionist regime fought a war of aggression against Iran on June 13, attacking Iranian troops, nuclear power and residential areas for 12 days, but the US carried out a military attack on three nuclear sites in Iran, Natanz, Fordau and Isfahan on June 22.
Iranian troops carried out a powerful counterattack shortly after the attack. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Aerospace Force implemented 22 waves of retaliation missiles against the Zionist regime as part of Operation True Promise III, which caused significant losses to cities across the occupying territories.
In response to the US attack, Iranian forces fired waves of missiles at Aldead Air Force Base in Qatar, the largest US military base in West Asia.
The battle was suspended due to a ceasefire that came into effect on June 24th.
