Islamic Republic of the Islamic Foreign Ministry, issued a statement on Sunday morning, considered actions by three European countries (UK, Germany and France) and the US, deeming snapbacks illegal and unfounded, highlighting the UN Security Council resolution 2231 and existing pre-existing restraints that have not risked their lives to maintain Iran’s peace programme.
The ministry began moving on a mechanism known as “snapback” while three European countries were incited and under pressure from the US, but added that they themselves abused the JCPOA dispute resolution process as a result of a sustained and serious failure to fulfill those duties. Furthermore, by expressly or implicitly supporting the Zionist regime and US military attacks on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities under the JCPOA and institutional protection regime, three European countries violate international law and non-enhancing regimes, particularly Article 2 of the United Nations. Security Council Resolution 2231. Therefore, the European Party of the JCPOA, like the US, has committed a severe and continuous violation of the JCPOA and has not made any genuine efforts in conflict resolution.
The move to revive the terminated solution is not only legally unfounded and impossible, but also completely unacceptable from a moral and logical perspective. The Islamic Republic’s Peaceful Nuclear Programme has already been addressed comprehensively in UN Security Council Resolution 2231 and its Annex, the JCPOA, and its 10-year timeframe and should be considered to have ended on the date foreseen on October 18, 2025.
Over the past two decades, Iran’s Islamic Republic has repeatedly demonstrated its dialogue and diplomatic commitment to solving the issues raised regarding Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, indicating that the rights and concerns of Iranian people are ready to find a logical and fair solution that ensures the peaceful use of peace energy for uniform nuclear activities. In this regard, in addition to faithfully implementing the JCPOA from 2015 to 2019 (i.e., from one year after illegal US withdrawal), Iran organized systematic measures in accordance with paragraphs 26 and 36 of the JCPOA, so that European parties and the US could return to their commitments.
The ministry emphasizes submitting multiple initiatives and proposals to reimplement the JCPOA commitment by all parties over the past four years, or conclude another negotiated understanding to address the open issues regarding Iran’s nuclear programme.
The military attacks by the Zionist regime and the US over Iran’s nuclear facilities in June, and the accompaniment of invaders by three European countries represent the peak of serious violations of the JCPOA’s commitment with the manifesto’s maliciousness.
