Speaking on a weekly presser on Monday morning, Baguei answered questions advocated by journalists on a variety of issues related to Iran’s foreign policy.
Referring to the venue for the second round of talks between Iran and Washington, senior diplomats said that the location of consultations is not important, and what is important is that the form of the speech remains indirect and Oman remains intermittent as a mediator. “Of course, the position of negotiations is not the main issue. What is important is the continuation of the form and framework of interaction between Iran and the US, which indirectly continues with Omani mediation.”
“We are in constant contact with the Omani side and after receiving official comments, a final decision will be made regarding the location of the negotiations,” he said.
Referring to the reactions from different American officials, Baguey said, “Contradictory statements have been made by various American officials and they themselves have to find a way to resolve these contradictions. This is one of the main reasons why they indirectly hold negotiations.”
He further emphasized that consultations and pursuing ongoing threats would never be acceptable to Iran. “We cannot argue that we will continue our pressure, sanctions and threat policies and seek negotiations. This approach is absolutely unacceptable and we are clearly stated our position.”
“In such a lecture, the parties usually present a framework and principled position. Of course, Iran’s position has been clearly stated many times.”
“Iran’s nuclear issue is an excuse to create an unnecessary crisis over the past 20 years, and Iran’s nuclear program has always been peaceful. Our main issue and serious demands are lifting the cruel and illegal sanctions imposed on the Iranian state over the past few years,” he emphasized.
