TEHRAN – Iran has partnered with Israeli Mossad Intelligence Agency to execute Esmail Fekli, a convicted spy who has been convicted of trying to send classified information in exchange for money. The execution took place Monday morning after the final approval of the death sentence by the Supreme Court.
According to a statement issued by the Judicial Media Centre, Fekli was arrested in December 2023 during a complex intelligence reporting campaign conducted by Iranian security agencies. At the time of his arrest, he was actively communicating with Mossad operatives.
Judicial records reveal that Fekri, son of Khodanazar, has maintained contact with two Mossad officers and attempted to collect and transmit highly sensitive and classified national security information, including the location of the strategic site, details of certain individuals, and internal organizational missions.
Fekli began working with Mossad after being vetted by senior Mossad officers. He was later assigned to a second officer named “Amir.” He instructed to establish a new encrypted communications platform to send intelligence reports. In July 2022, Amir instructed Fekri to set up a cryptocurrency wallet on his mobile phone to facilitate payment for operational support.
Despite his secret activities, Iranian intelligence agency was able to monitor Fekri’s communications and identify a wider spying network associated with the Zionist regime. He was placed under surveillance and eventually arrested for a targeted security operation.
After his arrest, security officials conducted a forensic analysis of Fekri’s electronics, revealing detailed communications and instructions from the Mossad handler. These included explicit directives to collect information and forward it to the Israeli intelligence agency.
After a comprehensive legal process, including multiple court sessions attended by the defendant and his attorney, Fekli was convicted on substantial documentary evidence, forensic findings, his own confession, and proof of payments received from the Mossad. He was charged under Article 6 of the Act on Standing Up the Hostile Action of the Zionist Regime on Peace and Security and was sentenced to death.
The Supreme Court later reviewed and upheld the first verdict. After all legal proceedings were completed, Fekri’s decision was made in accordance with the final court decision.
