Tehran is hoping that Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit Iran and is preparing for his arrival, Iranian government spokeswoman Fatem Mohajelani told Leah Novosti on Monday.
“Putin’s trip to Tehran is currently being resolved and preparations are underway,” Mohajerani said.
This came after last month, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakich said Tehran hopes Putin will visit Iran in 2025.
The Kremlin has yet to announce plans for the Russian president’s visit to Iran.
At the beginning of April, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araguchi made Ali Khamenei from the leader of the Islamic Revolution to Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting in Moscow.
The top Iranian diplomats conveyed a message written by the leader of the Islamic Revolution to the Russian president, explaining the views and status of the Islamic Republic of Iran on bilateral relations agenda and issues of regional and international development.
Pointing out the importance of signing a comprehensive strategic partnership treaty between Iranian Islamic Republic and the Russian Federation, Aragut, the most important sign of cooperation between the two countries, stressed at the conference the Islamic Republic of Iran’s resolve to strengthen and expand bilateral relations with the Russian Federation.
Russian President Putin emphasized the importance of Iran-Russia’s strategic partnership, calling for strengthened relations between the two countries, highlighting the means of ensuring cooperation and coordination on regional and international issues, securing the interests of both countries, and maintaining and strengthening peace and stability.
In addition to bilateral relations, regional issues and existing threats, Putin and Aragut discussed the latest status of negotiations regarding Ukraine, nuclear issues and international issues.
