Iran has condemned the UK’s new sanctions and described the move as a violation of international norms as “fundamentally unacceptable.”
In a statement issued Thursday, the Islamic Republic of Iran Embassy in London condemned the UK government’s decision to sanction Iranian individuals and four groups. The embassy has rejected London’s justification that Target “promotes cross-border activities in Tehran.”
The statement emphasized that such actions violate the principles of international law and the UN Charter governing friendly relations between nations. “Iran has always emphasized dialogue and mutual respect,” the embassy said, firmly denying the UK’s allegations. “We have never designed or supported any threats to the UK’s internal security, and no action has been taken in this regard.”
Changing focus to the region, the embassy has identified Israel as a major source of instability. This takes into account its complications in international crimes such as aggression, genocide and crimes against humanity. The West expressed their surprise that it was indifferent to international protests against the “child-killing regime” and that it would not take any meaningful steps to stop its actions.
The embassy reaffirmed its commitment to mutual respect and non-interference, urging the UK to abandon “hostile policies and illegal and destructive actions.”
The accusation follows a UK Foreign Ministry announcement on Thursday, which added several Iranian trade and petrochemical companies to the sanctions list.
