Salehi Amiri shared the country’s tourism statistics with reporters on the sidelines of the inauguration of a tourist village in Ejrud, a town in Zanjan province, on Wednesday.
He said tourist arrivals since October this year have brought the number to 4.5 million for the first time, despite a decline between June and September compared to the same period in 2024.
According to him, nearly 7.4 million foreign tourists entered Iran last year.
Referring to security and negative propaganda from Western media, he spoke about recent meetings with regional officials and said that this year Tehran will also host tourism ministers from the Nowruz region.
Salehi Amiri pointed out that the policy of President Massoud Pezeshkian’s government is to develop infrastructure for domestic and foreign tourists, and said that Zanjan province will be one of the main pillars of the five-year tourism plan.
Pointing to Zanjan’s religious and traditional ceremonies, he said one of the objectives of the trip was to explore the province’s religious tourism capacity.
