TEHRAN – Iran’s Deputy Tourism Minister Anuhilvan Moseni Vanpei said on Monday that Iraq’s planned tourism roadshow will play an important role in expanding various areas of tourism cooperation between the two countries.
“The negotiations between the Iraqi Prime Minister and the Minister of Tourism is already planned to ensure that tourism exchanges with Iraq can be increased in many ways, including pilgrimage, heritage, civilisation tourism, recreation and health,” he said in a statement carried by Irna News Agency.
On the sidelines of Tourism Week, Moseni Vanpei added that he will be attending this important tourist event in Iraq due to the importance of the Iran-Iraq tourism issue and the volume and scope of the Iraqi Reza Salehi Amiri roadshow held in Iraq.
Officials added that tourists entering Iran from Iraq are making efforts as double territorial tourists in Iran, and that Iraqi tourists who enter Iran will either go to Mashhad for a pilgrimage or then head to another state, or make a pilgrimage to other states first and then Mashhad and return to the country.
The Deputy Minister also said: “The goal for the second half of Iran’s year in 1404 is to attract 2.5 million tourists from Iraq, and by 1405 we plan to attract 5 million tourists from Iraq.
The roadshow, scheduled for October 6th-9th in three cities of Basra, Baghdad and Karbala, supported the support of the Iranian Travel Services Office Association and participation from the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts, prioritizing the goal of attracting five million Irakhian tourists and 5 million tourists who trade Baghhran and Baghhran.
He reiterated that Tourist Roadshows held in various countries are not retained in the scale and scope of events held in Iraq.
Mohseni-Bandpei added: “Our goal is to bring more tourists to Iran, in addition to tourists from Iraq, to introduce them to other tourism sectors of Iran and to tourists entering from Iraqi nationals and the country.”
