In a post on Saturday, Kazem Gharibabadi criticized the ICJ Vice President for surveillance with Israel despite multiple cases of the administration in the international courts, describing her stance as “a shocking violation of judicial ethics.”
“The Vice President of ICJ is openly on the side of Israel, a government with multiple cases before the court. This blatant bias undermines the credibility of the ICJ and violates the fundamental principles of judicial impartiality,” Galibabadi said.
Cebuchinde, a native of Uganda, said at a church event on August 10th that “the Lord relies on me to stand by Israel,” and claimed that he was “opposed to Israel, including my country.”
“The signs are shown in the Middle East,” the ICJ judge further said.
Her comments sparked controversy, especially given her previous dissent, in important cases relating to the Israeli regime.
Earlier last year, Cebuchinde was the only judge on a panel of 17 members opposed to a ruling on the acceptability of Israeli massacre in Gaza. Furthermore, in July 2024, she stood alone in dispute. A panel of 15 has declared decades of occupation of Palestinian territory illegal.
