Abbas Gordalj mentioned Iran’s legal right to benefit from the provisions of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and peaceful nuclear technology, emphasizing that Iran’s membership in the Islamic Republic in the treaty aims to maintain scientific and technological achievements in order to enjoy the support of the International Atomic Energy Agency and to maintain the scientific and technological achievements of the country.
Under Article 4 of the NPT, Member States have the right to carry out research activities and develop, produce and use peaceful nuclear technology, and these rights cannot be rejected or halted in any way. Unfortunately, the International Atomic Energy Agency has failed to protect these legal rights and has not taken a clear stance towards a clear violation of the provisions of the treaty.
He added that consideration of the terms of this bylaw and decisions regarding the resumption of cooperation shall be borne by the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), and that punishments are also being considered for violators of the law.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Iranian parliament approved a suspension of cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) after an overwhelming vote.
In today’s public session of Congress, legislators agreed to a general overview of the plan, endorsing 221 votes, not voting, and rejecting a total of 223 representatives present in the session.
