TEHRAN – Iran’s Turkish ambassador, Mohammad Hassan Habibibaze, reiterated Tehran’s commitment to regional stability, stressing that Iran supports an initiative aimed at eliminating terrorism and strengthening security among its neighbouring countries.
His remarks came during a meeting with Oke Memis, the executive director of the Turkish National Security Council, held in Ankara on Saturday. Khabibzadeh emphasized the importance of cooperation between Iran and Turkey, particularly in efforts to promote peace and stability across the region.
Both authorities agreed that strengthening security collaboration between the two countries is essential to addressing common threats and maintaining regional stability. They discussed a variety of ongoing issues, including the Syrian situation and advances in indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States regarding the Iranian nuclear program. The talks aim to bring about a nuclear deal that restricts Iran’s nuclear activity in exchange for the end of sanctions.
Additionally, Tehran welcomed the decision to disband and cease armed activities against Turkey by the recent announcement by the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). Iran expressed hope that the move will contribute to peace and stability in the region, ease tensions and promote better relations between all involved parties.
