Iran’s Ground Forces Commander-in-Chief (Artesh) said the country’s border areas are being monitored electronically using state-of-the-art cameras and sensors, and new bases and observation towers are being built along the border.
“In cooperation with border guards and police, measures are also being taken to prevent the entry of unauthorized individuals, contraband goods, weapons and drugs, which play an important role in establishing lasting security in the region and the country,” Brigadier General Ali Jahanshahi explained in his remarks to reporters.
The senior Army commander also mentioned the training that Army ground forces conduct regularly to maintain combat readiness. He said the country had learned valuable lessons from Israel’s 12-day military invasion of Iran. “Following the recent wars, favorable steps have been taken to modernize weapons and equipment and train personnel.”
Meanwhile, the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of Iran’s parliament held a meeting attended by representatives of the police, border guards, army general staff, Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), and others. During the meeting held on Tuesday, the recently developed comprehensive border protection plan was considered and parts of it were approved, declared Parliamentary Committee Spokesperson Ebrahim Rezaei.
Iran has stepped up border security in recent months to prevent illegal immigrants, terrorists, armed robbers and contraband from entering the country. This increased vigilance is considered critical as the Israeli regime escalates its cooperation with terrorist and separatist groups operating along the Iranian border, according to intelligence reports. The Tel Aviv regime also forced large numbers of illegal immigrants to carry out operations inside Iran during the 12-day war in June.
