TEHRAN – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragci said in a telephone conversation Monday night, Iraqi counterpart Hussein said US illegal sanctions on Iran’s oil industry were unfounded and unreliable.
“The allegations and accusations by US officials aimed at putting pressure on Iran are neither grounded nor credible,” Aragucci said.
The call comes after Foreign Minister Huad Hussein said Iraq is not part of the axis of resistance, and Iraqi oil minister Hayan Abdel Ghani claimed that Iranian oil tankers were using forged Iraqi documents.
The Iranian chief diplomat said it was expected that neighboring friendly countries are “watching against US division tactics that require only harmful ties between regional countries in line with the ominous purposes of the Zionist regime.”
The two foreign ministers also exchanged opinions on the recent situation in the region, particularly the resumption of brutal attacks by the Zionist regime on Gaza and Lebanon, and the US military’s attacks on Yemen.
The Iranian chief diplomat called for immediate action from the international community, particularly from the regional and Islamic countries, to stop these atrocities and prevent further uncertainty throughout the region.
