The Iranian foreign minister met with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican Prime Minister, on Friday, Abbas Aragci’s Sei, who was in Rome to attend indirect consultations in the fifth round between Iran and the United States.
Archbishop Paul Gallagher, the Vatican Foreign Minister, also attended the meeting.
Araguchi expressed his sadness at the death of Pope Francis and congratulated Pope Leo on the election.
During the meeting, Aragut outlined Iran’s position on the peaceful use of nuclear energy and explained to senior Vatican officials about ongoing indirect Iran-US negotiations.
He also cited the fierce massacres and continued genocide in Gaza, explaining the devastating circumstances of occupied Palestinian territory, highlighting the legal and moral responsibility of all countries and people to frequently act to condemn crimes and oppose them.
Araguchi said occupation of the fundamental rights of Palestinians, including the right to self-determination, apartheid and general violations are the root causes of unrest and uncertainty in West Asia.
He emphasized that while the Israeli regime is pursuing the elimination of Palestinian colonies, the so-called two-state solutions have become an unrealized promise that exacerbated the denial of Palestinian rights.
Iran’s proposed solution, he added, is the formation of a single democratic state across Palestinian territory, through a referendum that involves the participation of all former residents, including Muslims, Jews and Christians.
Both sides also discussed bilateral relations between Iran and the bacterium, pagan dialogue and promoting peaceful discourse.
