August 8th, Iran, is National Journalist Day, commemorating the eight members of the Iranian Consulate General in Afghanistan, to commemorate Iranian reporter Mahmoud Salemi, who taught martyr on August 8, 1998.
In a statement in a statement on the 27th anniversary of Afghanistan’s attack on the Iranian consulate, Mazar y Sharif, the Iranian Foreign Ministry clarified the dimension of this terrorist crime and highlighted the need to identify the perpetrators and personnel behind this heinous crime.
In a statement released Thursday, Iran’s Foreign Ministry said August 17 was the anniversary of the unjust martialism of Iranian diplomats and journalists at the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Mazar y Sharif in Afghanistan.
The statement said 27 years ago, on the day the consulate-general of the Islamic Republic building in Iran-y-Sharif in Mazar-i-Sharif, Afghanistan, was attacked by armed terrorists and eight Iranian diplomats working at the consulate, along with Mamoud Salemi.
The Foreign Ministry added to the statement: “Undoubtedly, this terrorist attack is one of the most vicious examples of serious violations of international law in the field of diplomat relations, and has encountered strong international condemnations, including UN Security Council (UNSC) resolution 1267.”
The statement also said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic respects the memories of diplomats and journalists of martyrism and asks the most elegant Almighty God to give high class and mercy.
In this statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran continues to emphasize the need to clarify the dimension of this terrorist crime, including identifying its perpetrators and those who ordered them, taking concrete steps to implement justice and pursuing the issue seriously.
