“Together with Omani and US interlocutors, we have decided to postpone the fourth round consultations for logistics and technical reasons,” Foreign Minister Abbas Aragci wrote late Thursday.
“On Iran’s part, there has been no change in our resolve to secure a negotiated solution. In fact, we are more determined than ever to achieve a balanced transaction. It creates confidence that Iran’s nuclear program will remain in peace forever, ensuring an end to the sanctions and ensure that Iran’s nuclear program is fully respected,” he added.
Esmaeir Bagaei, a spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, said the meeting, which is scheduled to be held in Rome, was pushed back to the proposal of Omani Bador bin Hamad al-Busadi.
The Omani top diplomat said in his X account that the changes will be changed for “logistical reasons” and that “new dates will be announced when mutual agreement is made.”
Baghaei reaffirmed Iran’s resolve to use diplomacy aimed at protecting the legitimate rights and interests of Iranian people, and reaffirmed that it had targeted all single, single, single welfare, with existing sanctions and economic pressures targeting all human rights and well-being in Iran.
He said the Iranian delegation has approached the process in good faith since the first round. Tehran outlined a clear framework based on its principled position, he added, based on international law on the peaceful use of nuclear energy and the removal of illegal sanctions.
The Islamic Republic continues to remain strong and committed to this path, emphasizing Tehran’s determined pursuit of outcome-oriented consultations aimed at reaching a fair, reasonable and lasting agreement, Baguei said.
The mediation of Oman, Iran and the US held three rounds of talks in Muscat and Rome on April 12, 19 and 26 with the aim of reaching a deal on Iran’s nuclear program and the elimination of sanctions in Tehran.
The parties have so far expressed satisfaction with the way negotiations are underway and praised the consultation as “positive” and “moving forward.”
