Iran’s permanent UN ambassador commented on Monday in a letter to the UN chief and the Security Council president.
Amir Saeid Iravani said that the act of military adventure by the United States or its representatives of Israeli administration will be met with a prompt, proportional and legal response.
He added that the United States and Israel are fully responsible for all consequences of such illegal and reckless attacks.
Irabani said such inflammatory and belligerent rhetoric against UN member states constitutes a clear and serious violation of the fundamental principles of international law.
He also denounced the United States and its allies for militarizing the Red Sea and launching illegal military operations against Yemen.
After Yemen’s missile strike at Israel’s Ben Gurion airport, the administration’s prime minister and defense secretary attributed the attack to Iran, threatening Tehran to face consequences.
Dozens of Israeli fighters carried out airstrikes on Yemen’s targets on Monday night.
Israel has launched 50 airstrikes at port city Hudaida and cement factories to the east.
The US officials have confirmed that air raids are taking place in close cooperation with the US, Israel’s biggest benefactor and a conspiracy in a brutal military campaign ongoing in Gaza.
Below is the full text of Ambassador Irabani’s letter to the United Nations.
In the name of God, the most compassionate and most merciful
Your Honor,
Based on instructions from my government, I would like to draw your attention, attract the attention of members of the Security Council, and become yet another prominent violation of international law committed by the Israeli regime.
In an official statement on Sunday, May 4, 2025, Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of the Israeli regime, repeated an unfounded allegation in the Islamic Republic of Iran by mistake acting in response to the atrocities committed in occupied Palestine.
In the same statement, the Israeli Prime Minister explicitly threatened Iran’s Islamic Republic and declared that he would retaliate not only against Yemen, but also against what he called “Iran’s terrorist master.”
Unfortunately, this reckless threat was also made by Secretary of Defense Pete Hegses on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, who also said Iran was “facing consequences” that allegedly supported Yemen’s Ansarrah actions.
In this regard, I would like to emphasize the position of the Islamic Republic of Iran as follows:
Iran’s Islamic Republic firmly rejects and denies these accusations and threats as baseless, provocative and politically motivated.
Such inflammatory and warlike rhetoric constitutes a clear and serious violation of the fundamental principles of international law and the UN Charter, particularly Article 2(4), which openly threatens the use of force against sovereign members of the United Nations, representing a direct threat to international peace and security.
As I have stated again, the actions of the people of Yemen are independent decisions made in the exercise of their sovereignty to resist attacks that resist violations of Yemen’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and independent decisions to demonstrate solidarity with the people of Palestinians.
The attempt to return these legitimate actions to the Islamic Republic of Iran is a hopeless effort intended to deliberately misrepresentation and hopeless efforts aimed at deviating the attention of the international community from the root causes of the local situation, namely, a desperate effort intended to be an ongoing serious crime being carried out by the Israeli regime for Western attacks, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregorian calendar, including the Gregor by the US against Yemen.
Recalling the dangerous consequences and implications of continuing military attacks on Yemen’s sovereignty and territorial integrity over the security and stability of the Red Sea and the entire region, the Islamic Republic of Iran has consistently called for the end of occupied Palestinian genocide and war crimes as the causes of regional instability.
Iran’s Islamic Republic condemns US military attacks on Yemen’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, reaffirming its principled position on the need to respect the country’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty.
Rather it is the United States and its allies who militarized the Red Sea by launching illegal military operations against Yemen, not Iran, and thus militarized the Red Sea and expanded regional conflicts.
These attacks and offensive actions targeting civilian infrastructure pose a serious violation of the UN Charter and international law, particularly international humanitarian law, putting peace and stability in Yemen and the region at stake.
In light of these serious violations and their dangerous implications, the Islamic Republic of Iran is calling on the UN Security Council to fulfill its primary responsibility under the Charter to maintain the security and security of the United Nations. The Security Council must not remain silent, but rather must explicitly condemn the threatening and warm statements made by Israeli administration and US officials, demanding that illegal threats be halted and international obligations be respected in full.
Iran’s Islamic Republic remains immobilized in its commitment to peace and stability in the region. No conflict or escalation is required. Nevertheless, Iran emphasizes its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and its inherent right to defend its illegal threats or national interests against force in accordance with international law and the UN Charter. The act of military adventure by the United States or its proxy, the Israeli regime is satisfied with a prompt, proportional, legal response, whether targeting Iran’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, or its national and important interests. The US and Israeli administrations are fully and explicitly responsible for all consequences arising from such illegal and reckless attacks.
If you distribute your current letters as Security Council documents, I should be grateful.
I hope you will accept my best considerations, Your Excellency.
