Maddy Aria Baddy, a sub -permanent representative of Iran to a UN office based in Geneva, is a speech in the 48th session of the Universal Regular Examination (UPR) held in Switzerland on January 27. And discussed the situation of Iraq.
The following is his speech text:
Thank you, President,
Iran’s Islamic Republic is warmly welcomed for the high -level representatives of Iraqi led by the Minister of Justice and thank them for their presentations.
Iran praised new laws and strategies that aim to promote and protect Iraqi human rights, including new laws related to health insurance, retirement and social security, legal assistance, and revision of the rights of the disabled.
Considering the highly stable importance of the region and the terrible impact of ISIL in our region, we welcome Iraqi’s national strategy to fight terrorism designed for 2021-2025. And we recommend continuation for several years.
With a constructive spirit, we recommend Iran as follows:
1. By providing necessary finance and human resources, we will strengthen positive efforts to implement the national human rights plan.
2. We continue to formulate national laws on human rights and strengthen the mechanisms for protecting and promoting human rights.
3. Increase efforts to deal with unemployment.
4. Strengthen social protection programs that prioritize rural areas.
Iran’s Islamic Republic hopes that the Iraqi Republic has succeeded in a universal regular review.
Thank you, President.
