TEHRAN – In response to leaked reports that could launch an attack on Iran’s nuclear site, Foreign Minister Abbas Aragut said Thursday that the Islamic Republic would not hesitate to respond forcefully to the attack, taking all the necessary actions to protect its interests and people.
“The threat from the illicit Israeli regime is nothing new, but the recent leak cites US officials as revealing Israel’s plans for illegal attacks on Iran and its nuclear facilities is astounding, ensuring immediate and serious condemnation from the UN Security Council and (the International Atomic Energy Agency) (IAEA),” Aragi reported.
He also said he wrote letters to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi about the military threat.
“I have called on the international community to take effective precautions against the continued Israeli threat, which has called forcing Iran to take special measures to defend its nuclear facilities and materials, if checked.”
Noting that his letter is a “serious pre-action warning,” the Minister stated that “the nature, content and scope of our actions will be addressed and proportionate to the precautions taken by these international organizations in accordance with their statutory obligations and obligations.”
