The Interior Minister said the country has the highest number of exits, recorded from the border of Khorasan Razabi. So far, 1,200,000 Afghan nationals have left the country, with the agenda being the gradual return of 2 million unauthorized immigrants.
Escandar Momeni announced today that a specialized meeting will be held to consider the situation of foreigners and the management of the borders of the country during a trip to the sacred cities of Mashhad, saying that one of the important programs of the Ministry of Home Affairs is to examine the process of sealing the borders and organizing illegal foreigners.
Emphasizing the need to manage the immigrant population, he added that the first step is the return of around 2 million unauthorized citizens who entered the country without legal documents, according to the planned programme. “Currently, Iran has over 6 million Afghan citizens, and it is no surprise that serious national and international cooperation is needed to manage this population,” he said.
