Speaking on Iranian National Television on Thursday, which will be held on Iran’s Knowles Day, Seyed Abbas Aragucci said, “For the time being, our policies are not directly negotiated.” He said Iran would refuse to directly talks with Washington under threat and maximum pressure.
The minister added that Iran has held indirect consultations during various previous rounds of talks with the UK, Germany and France with the aim of reviving the nuclear trade (JCPOA), and that Iran is currently also discussing the issue of nuclear deals with Russia and China.
“Our policy is not a direct negotiation while continuing indirect negotiations as long as there is a threat,” he continued.
In this regard, Iranian government spokeswoman Fateme Mohajelani stressed that the contents of the letter will not be made public for the time being, in response to a letter sent by President Donald Trump to the Islamic Republic of Iran. She said the letter sent was “under review” by the relevant authorities, adding that “appropriate responses will be given at the right time and in the best interests of the country.”
