TEHRAN – Iranian actor Mohammad Qasbi died on Saturday night at the age of 74 in a hospital in Tehran.
The veteran actor died after being admitted to the intensive care unit of Katamu Oruambia Hospital for several days. IRNA reported that he had been in an unstable condition in recent days due to heart and respiratory problems and was connected to a breathing support machine.
Born in Tehran, Qasbi graduated in film acting and directing from the Faculty of Drama at Tehran University.
In 1991, he was nominated for the Crystal Simurgh Best Male Actor Award at the Fajr International Film Festival for his role in Badook.
Four years later, he won the Crystal Simurgh Award and the Malaysian East Asian Film Festival Best Actor Award for his role in The Father (1995).
Kasubi’s other major films include “Boycott” (1985), “Refugees” (1993), “Attack on H-3” (1994), “The World Upside Down” (1997), “St. year), etc.
He also appeared in several television series such as ‘Rana’ (1988-1990), ‘Three by Four’ (2008), ‘Stepmother’ (2010), ‘Three Shares Each’ (2011) and ‘Dementia’ (2012).
Kasubi was also the founder of the theater department of National Radio, the founder of the Performing Arts Center of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, and the official in charge of managing the theater department of the arts center and township affairs.
