TEHRAN — Iranian Ambassador to Tajikistan Alireza Haqikian emphasized the need to design a sustainable framework for joint cooperation with Tajikistan and the development of medical tourism.
According to ISNA, the head of the Iranian Health Insurance Authority, Mohammad Mehdi Nasehi, along with the organization’s senior management, met and held discussions with Iran’s ambassador to Tajikistan.
At the meeting, views were exchanged on ways to develop cooperation in the health and medical insurance sector in Tajikistan and build the necessary platforms, especially electronic infrastructure.
Mr. Haqiqian emphasized the need to design a sustainable framework for joint cooperation and health tourism development.
As part of strengthening bilateral relations between Iran and Tajikistan, a visa waiver program was implemented between the two countries, starting in August 2024.
According to a report in Kovar newspaper, under a recent memorandum of understanding signed by the governments of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran, passport holders from both countries can visit each other’s territories without a visa for up to 90 days from the date of first entry and for a stay of up to 30 days per visit.
Initially, the visa-free initiative will only cover travelers on Dushanbe-Tehran and Tehran-Dushanbe flights.
