TEHRAN – The foreign ministers of Iran and Egypt discussed bilateral relations and the ongoing Israeli violence in Gaza in a telephone conversation on Saturday. Iran’s Seyyed Abbas Araghchi and Egypt’s Badr Abdellatti agreed to continue dialogue to develop relations between the two countries.
An important part of their discussion focused on regional crises. According to Iran’s Foreign Ministry, both officials referred to “recent regional developments, particularly the situation in Lebanon and Gaza as a result of the Israeli regime’s ongoing aggression and repeated ceasefire violations.” The two leaders jointly “stressed the urgent need for the international community to take immediate action to stop the regime’s crimes.”
Israel is killing Palestinians on a daily basis in the Gaza Strip, despite a ceasefire that took effect in October after nearly two years of relentless aggression against the enclave.
