Aragushi, who is in Muscat for a multilateral diplomacy and mediation summit, met with Alkoni on Monday night to discuss Iran-Libya relations and the broader international situation.
Both officials expressed satisfaction with the steady progress in bilateral relations and emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
Mr. Araghchi emphasized the deep historical and cultural ties between the two countries and expressed hope that improvements in the political and security situation in Libya will pave the way for broader engagement.
Mr. Alkoni appreciated Iran’s principled position on respecting Libya’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and reaffirmed the Libyan leadership’s commitment to expanding relations with Iran.
The two sides also exchanged views on important issues affecting the Islamic world, in particular the situation in Palestine, and stressed the need to strengthen cooperation among Islamic countries to protect Palestinian civilians and counter Israeli military aggression in the region.
