Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stressed the need to stop Israeli crimes in the Gaza Strip at a joint press conference in Tehran on Sunday.
Iran and Turkey have much in common regarding regional issues, Iran’s top diplomat said, noting that Iran and Turkey are not just neighbors but two friendly and brotherly countries with ample historical and cultural similarities.
Mr. Araguchi stressed that the border between the two countries has been a border of peace and friendship for many years.
He said that trade between Iran and Turkey is on the rise, adding that officials from both countries will make maximum efforts to remove trade barriers.
He further pointed out that the Iranian consulate general will be reopened in the Turkish city of Van in the near future.
The visiting Turkish Foreign Minister thanked the Iranian side for its hospitality and underlined the constructive consultations between the two countries on a wide range of issues, including bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest.
Earlier on Sunday, the two foreign ministers touched on important issues including Gaza, Palestine, Lebanon and Israel’s aggression against the Palestinian people.
Mr. Araghchi and Mr. Fidan emphasized the need to end the Israeli regime’s aggression against the oppressed Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
