In comments on Sunday, Brigadier General Kiumers Haidari said the Army’s ground forces are committed to protecting peace under the UN Charter.
He said the Iranian Army Ground Forces are ready to take part in peacekeeping missions in accordance with international regulations.
Describing Iran’s “special and popular” military forces as guardians of peace and morality, he said Iran, according to Islamic teaching, seeks the welfare and justice of all countries.
The Iranian Army’s ground forces feel bound by protecting international peace and stability, ensuring justice and facing bully hegemony, he said.
He added that peace does not mean prevention of war alone, but supports oppressed countries and involves fighting terrorism.
“I believe that active involvement in peacekeeping missions will provide an opportunity to share experiences and show the world a realistic image of the Iranian military,” he said.
In comments at a press conference on May 19, a spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed that the countries are ready to participate in the UN peacekeeping mission.
Esmaeil Baqaei has expressed preparations for Iran to take part in the UN peacekeeping mission at a famous conference in Berlin, saying it “showns Iran’s approach to protecting peace in conflict zones.”
