Following two successful attempts at 185kg and 191kg, Sharifi secured the silver with a snatch on a 195kg lift.
He continued to charge money with a 227kg lift and clean and jerk. Despite lifting 235kg on the second attempt, the ju umpire disqualified the lift and did not attempt a third attempt.
His total of 422kg won him an entire gold medal.
Other Iranian medalists include Ali Alipur, who won two gold and one silver in the 96kg category, and Alileza Morniwi, who won gold in the snatch and overall bronze.
Iran came in second in overall medal rankings, finishing just behind host nation China.
The Iranian team collected a total of eight medals, including five gold, two silver and one bronze.
