More than 40 % of the wetland area is exposed to drying
In December 2024, SHINA Ansari, the head of the Ministry of the Environment, stated that about 43 % of the national wetlands were dried because the amount of precipitation was low and the correct distribution of water was inadequate.
“Wetlands need to be saved with the help of management measures and the help of the participation in the local community,” Irib quoted that Ansari said.
“Over the past few decades, water rights have not been assigned to most wetlands, such as Parisian, Shaden, Hamone, Jazzmorian, and Lake Ulmia, so 43 % of these wetlands are larger or less. It is exposed to drying.
The ensari states: “If you share the local community on the advantage of wetlands, we will apply for and recover the wetland.”
