In August, Hossein Roozbeh, the head of the development of international cooperation in science and technology, and China’s ambassador for Iran Kong Peiu, explored the path to expanding science and technology cooperation between the two countries.
Authorities met on August 24 after Peiu visited the Tehran branch of Iran’s Innovation Technology (IHIT), a Mehr news agency reported.
A Chinese official visited Tehran IHIT said, “Iran has a grand civilization and is home to intelligent people who have achieved great results. The history of technological development is shining. Today, we witness Iran’s rapid technological advances in the modern era.
“We believe there are many potential paths to strengthening the partnership between the two countries,” he said of Hossein Afsin’s recent visit to China, as well as the country’s public approach to international cooperation.
Roozbeh highlighted the need to promote and accelerate scientific cooperation between Iran and China, and emphasized that the two countries have a long history of scientific, technical, economic and trade cooperation.
Iran’s science and technology ecosystem has made great strides in recent years as more than 10,000 knowledge-based companies have operated in the country. The contribution of a highly skilled and talented workforce has created great opportunities for the development of cooperation, he said.
On the sidelines of the Second Belt and Road Road Conference on the Second Belt Science and Technology Exchange in June, with reference to the Memorandum of Understanding (Mous) signed by the Deputy Prime Ministers of the People’s Republic of China, Afsin and Din Zhishen, the authorities announced that they are ready to carry out full preparations for Iran.
Roozbeh highlighted China’s outstanding capabilities in artificial intelligence (AI), saying that progress has been made in the Iranian field and that the AI partnership will bring in invaluable results for the region and the world.
Officials went on to say that the establishment of BRI (Belt and Road Initiative) LabSnet will play an important role in expanding scientific interactions on an international scale.
Both countries have also agreed to exchange researchers, young scientists and elites and to participate in national exhibitions. Collaboration includes joint efforts in the technology, health and medicine, the environment and agriculture sectors.
Officials also noted that Iran will launch its first IHIT in China in the coming months.
