Tehran – Rohalahimi, a professor of traditional pharmacy at the Persian School of Medicine, Tehran School of Medicine, was awarded the 2025 Violica Phytoniling Award.
According to Ga-online.org, the Bionorica Phytoneering Award recognizes outstanding research in the field of plant medicine development and application.
The Association will award awards for Medicinal Plants and Natural Products Research (GA). The award is intended to motivate scientists to conduct research in the following areas:
Clinical research in the fields of herbal medicine pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics, and its active principles, respiratory infections, inflammation, women’s health, metabolic syndrome, and safety and drug student research.
Graduated from Pharm.D Shiraz of Iran, Shiraz University Medical University, Rahimi continued her education to earn her Ph.D. Traditional pharmacy at Tehran Medical University in Tehran, Iran. She also holds a postdoctoral in “Pharmacology of Medicinal Plants Used in Gastrointestinal Disorders in Persian Medicine.”
She is listed among the top 1% highly cited scientists according to the 2015-2017, 2022, and 2024 Essential Science Indicator (ESI).
Rahimi contributed to over 200 articles and served as editor and author in several book chapters at International Publishing. Her specialization focuses on assessing the safety and efficacy of traditional Persian medicine formulations in pre-clinical and clinical settings.
Medicinal plants and natural products offer unique opportunities in medical and pharmaceutical development. Therefore, the Association for Research in Pharmaceuticals and Natural Products is dedicated to working towards a healthy life for humans and animals by developing more evidence-based uses of medicinal natural products and promoting research and development in a wide range of natural products.
It also provides a platform for the exchange of knowledge and ideas related to medicinal natural products, including annual conferences, e-signopias, workshops, and podcasts.
Women’s share in science
In past Iranian calendar years (March 2023 – March 2024), women accounted for 12.75% of the most cited researchers. With a share of 29.57%, the Ministry of Health has the most cited female researchers.
A recent report from Islamic World Science Citations (ISC) shows that a total of 177 Iranian female researchers have been recognized in fields such as agricultural science, clinical medicine, biology, biochemistry, chemistry, pharmacology, toxicology, neuroscience and psychology and psychology, engineering, engineering, material science, psychiatry, botany, student science, botany and other fields. Animal science, immunology, and some people have also scored the points they need in some areas.
Additionally, 375 highly cited Iranian researchers are one of the top 2% (one year performance) in the world in 13 subject areas: clinical medicine, biomedical, chemistry, engineering, agriculture, fisheries and forests, strategic technology (artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, etc.). In Iran, women account for more than 24% of domestic inventions, compared to the global average of 17%.
Having made great strides in the manufacture of high-tech products and grown a knowledge-based economy, Iranian women, like they do, are conveying the world the message that they could shine in the “technology” field. They are brilliantly illustrious at various global events, introducing the abilities of Iranian women to the world.
The proportion of female CEOs and chairs on boards of knowledge-based companies has increased significantly over the past three years. The number of female managers has almost doubled, increasing from 1,092 in 1400 (2021-2022) to 2,250 by the end of the first nine months of the current Iranian year, which began on March 20, 2024.
Only 12% of entrepreneurship and startups are founded by women. Of the 27,237 individuals who are members of the board of directors of knowledge-based companies, only 5,154, account for 19% of their members, are women.
At the latest international event, four Iranian women, namely Azam Karami, Mahavash Abhiyari, Marji Ebrahimi and Fateme Hosseini, made history. They were one of the winners of the BRICS Women’s Startups Contest 2024, one of the major programs of the BRICS Entrepreneurs Forum. The contest’s international jury has considered over 1,000 applications from 30 countries.
