Tehran – Iranian film director and producer Kasura Thirsahar will serve as a ju judge at this year’s Genesis International Film Festival (GIFF).
He has been selected as a ju apprentice for GIFF for the third year in a row. Several countries, including Russia, China, Greece and Brazil, will hold festivals in October, with the opening and closing ceremonies of the event scheduled to take place in Greece, the IRNA reported.
Tilsahar holds a Masters degree in Cinema from the University of the Arts in Tehran, and serves as a ju-degree in the International Division of Rif (Austria) and several other international festivals in the US and Colombia. He is known for his short film “Gal,” which has won several international awards.
“It’s an opportunity to get acquainted with the latest voices in independent films,” he said of the festival.
“In recent years, GIFF has established itself among major short film festivals, and with its global perspective, it has successfully built a bridge between different cultures and languages,” the filmmaker added.
“So far, this year’s entries have shown incredible diversity in terms of both geographical origins and form and narrative. It was a pleasure to see many films take a fresh approach to addressing human and social issues,” claimed Tilsahar.
According to him, one of the unique features of GIFF is the simultaneous screening of selected films in multiple countries. “This not only gives films the opportunity to be seen on a global scale, but also brings a multicultural experience to both audiences and filmmakers. For me, judging by GIFF was an opportunity to discover the latest voices of independent films.
The Genesis International Film Festival is not an international short film festival, but a global platform for showcasing and fostering creative cinema talent.
